When Remington Olmsted (the founder) decided to recreate a corner of Risorgimento (Resurgence) Rome in the Trastevere quarter, with the atmosphere and charm of a 19th century tavern, he chose Piazza dei Mercanti as its location and Meo Patacca as its name.

History is everywhere at Meo Patacca:
the rich and fascinating history of the city, but above all the history of the Roman people and its age-old traditions: lighting in the restaurant is in the form of gas lamps, oil lamps, candles and soft lights; waiters are decked out in garments of the time to evoke the characteristic and picturesque atmosphere of an early 19th century inn.
Every evening professional musicians wander from table to table entertaining clients with Roman songs, japes and ditties.
